What is a Casual Game?
A casual game is a game that doesn't affect your Magic Online rating. You can play casual Constructed and Limited games in the Casual Play area. Games you play in a league also don't affect your rating.

The Casual Play Area
Each room in the Casual Play area is set up for a different play format. You can play games with decks you've built and theme decks in the Constructed Games rooms. You can play Limited format games in the Sealed Deck Games and Draft Games rooms.

Unlike the other Casual Play rooms, you can play Constructed and Limited format games in the Multiplayer Games room. This room is set aside for games with more than two players and is also where you can play special multiplayer format games.

How do I Play a Casual Game?
There are three ways to play a casual game in Magic Online: you can start a new game, join a game, or challenge another player.

Starting a new game

You can start a new game in any of the Casual Play rooms by clicking on the New Game table in the upper left corner of the room. You can also click the New Game button in the lower right corner of the room.
Clicking on either will open up the New Game Options window, where you set options such as what product is used and how many games you're playing.
Once you've set up the new game, you'll go to the Waiting for Players window until you have enough players to begin the game.

Joining a game
When you're in one of the Casual Play rooms, you'll see tables with empty chairs sitting around them. These tables are where players are waiting for other players to join their games. If you point your mouse at a table, a message window will appear with information about that game. To join the game, click on any empty chair at that table.

Challenging another player
You can challenge another player to either a Constructed or Sealed Deck game by right clicking on the player's name and selecting Challenge. Challenges are always casual games and your game will appear in the appropriate Casual Play room. See Challenge for more information.
